Stefano Pioli says Milan want to avoid Inter or Napoli in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Rossoneri have returned to the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 11 years after beating Tottenham 1-0 on aggregate in the Round of 16. Last season, Milan finished last in their Champions League group.

During his post-match interview with Amazon Prime Italia, Pioli said that ‘nothing impossible in sport’ and during his press conference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night he said he doesn’t want to face Serie A clubs in the next round.

“Italian football is growing. I hope we won’t face Serie A clubs in the quarter-finals,” said the Rossoneri coach as quoted by Milannews.

“Milan haven’t played the Champions League for years and we struggled more last season. We have more experience now, we face these challenges with the right spirit.”

Unlike to the Rossoneri, Inter and Napoli haven’t yet qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Nerazzurri won the first leg at San Siro against Porto 1-0, while Napoli beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 away. Both Serie A giants will play the second leg next week.

Milan, Bayern Munich, Benfica, and Chelsea have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals following this week’s fixtures in Europe’s elite competition.
