Milan coach Stefano Pioli said he starts with the ‘best possible formation’ against Venezia and wants a ‘quality performance’ against the newly promoted side.

The Diavolo host Venezia at San Siro tonight and Pioli aims to continue with a win to bounce back from a 1-1 draw with Juventus last time.

“The target is to play well and try to win,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia. “We come from a good performance, we return to play in front of our fans and we want to do it in the best possible way.”

The Rossoneri coach struggles with many injuries and has made a host of changes to the line-up, as Fodé Ballo-Touré gets his first start since joining the club.

“It’s the best possible formation for tonight,” Pioli continued. “Last week we spent a lot, we played three games at a very high physical and mental level.

“Those tonight are doing well and will play well. We’ll think about [the injuries] tomorrow, now we focus on the game.”

Venezia are on the opposite side of the pitch and Pioli believes the Diavolo need a ‘quality performance’ to win at San Siro.

“Venezia play good football, they hold their ground well,” he said. “We will have to very careful.

“They won a championship and have certainties. It will take a quality performance.”
