Milan coach Stefano Pioli says there is “no case” with Mateo Musacchio, and was happy with his side’s performance.

The Rossoneri saw off a battling Torino side and are now only four points off of Roma in fifth spot in Serie A.

“I think the result and the performance were good tonight, we risked little,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“There are 14 games left, and I’m already thinking about the next game against Fiorentina in Florence.

“We have to think about winning as many games as possible between now and May.

“I made clear choices right away and got good answers. I believe our job is to always be under scrutiny. What we did tonight won’t be worth anything if we don’t do well in the next game.

“There is still a lot to do. We will see what the future holds at the end of the season.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic was angry because he could’ve done better, and could’ve finished the game off sooner.

“It’s only fair that we are ambitious.”

Simon Kjaer was forced to come off just before half time, and it seemed that Pioli called Mateo Mussachio to replace Kjaer, who refused to come on, but Pioli explained the situation.

“Musacchio had a pain in his calf and I was unable to call upon him. There is no case.”

Youngster Matteo Gabbia then replaced Kjaer and Pioli was full of praise for the player.

“Gabbia is a reliable player. He entered with the correct conviction. He deserves the satisfaction.

“When a player trains at this rate, it means he has important values.”
