Milan coach Stefano Pioli would like ‘one last push’ to end 2020 in style and revealed he will know about Sandro Tonali and Ante Rebic ‘in the morning’.

The Rossoneri are first in Serie A after 13 games, leading second-placed Inter by one point ahead of the big game against Lazio on Wednesday.

Pioli said it’s sad the fans haven’t been able to follow the side this term but spoke of his pride of being part of the Diavolo.

“Unfortunately, the fans are not there, but we can feel their presence,” Pioli said at a press conference. “We feel the affection in the city, the passion.

“The pride comes from the work around the Milan world. We receive more acclaim, but there’s a club behind it, a staff that puts us in a position to work at our best.

“I’m proud to be part of this club.”

Milan bounced back from two 2-2 draws with a 2-1 win over Sassuolo last weekend and Pioli felt the Rossoneri controlled the match at the Mapei Stadium.

“We did well to immediately control the match against Sassuolo tactically,” he said. “But we had analysed the two draws well and perhaps we were missing something defensively.

Pioli’s men are unbeaten in the League this term and the coach stressed the importance of a good finish ahead of the winter break.

“This match is very valuable, I’m telling the team that we have done a lot, now we must make the last push to finish the first part of the season well.

“We are fine, apart from the absentees, but the group are there.”

Milan were hoping to have Ante Rebic and Sandro Tonali back in action against Lazio and Pioli revealed he must wait until tomorrow before he knows for sure.

“In the morning, we will be able to figure out who will be better, today we did some light work.

“When we play in the evening, I communicate the formation in the morning. Today, they were pretty good, but I still don’t have any certainties.”
