Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli says tomorrow’s Coppa Italia tie with Milan will be a tough game.

The Biancocelesti defeated the Diavolo on Saturday night, leaving tomorrow’s game as possibly crucial for Pippo Inzaghi’s future on the San Siro bench.

“It’ll be a tough game, as the last one was,” Pioli told journalists in his pre-match Press conference.

“It wasn’t easy on Saturday against a determined opponent. I think they had the right attitude on Saturday, the plaudits should go to us.

“Milan will want to win to overcome this difficult spell. We need to get some more consistency, [on Saturday] we won, deservedly so.

“From Wednesday we’ll turn our attentions back to the League, now we want to progress in the cup. We’ll try to win.

“The players have shown they have a will to win, they always believed [even at 1-0 down to Milan], it’s an important step on our journey.

“We’ll have difficult times, we can’t think about always dominating on the pitch. We’ve shown we can believe in ourselves.

“I coach a good team, we have humility and respect for our opponents, but also a lot of conviction. We’re changing our attitude, respecting our opponents, but being aware of what we can do.”

The Aquile will be without Filip Djordjevic after the Serbian fractured an ankle in the win over Milan, and Pioli believes the club must act on the transfer market to replace him.

“I feel very sorry for Filip, he’s a great guy and a top player, I’m sure he’ll come back even stronger than before.

“We’re evaluating the situation, but we definitely have to act.

“We’re looking for someone with the same characteristics as Djordjevic, we’re looking for someone who has the right ones for us.

“We don’t have much time, as it was something unexpected but the club has shown they’re ready to act.

“[Brayan] Perea [on loan at Perugia], would have the advantage of knowing the club, and has characteristics which suit our attacking game.

“But we’re looking at other alternatives, along with the club.”
