Stefano Pioli fears Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Theo Hernandez won’t recover in time for the next game and insists talks about the Super League didn't distract Milan.

The Rossoneri suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Sassuolo and are set to face Lazio away on Monday.

“We are not tired. The lads ran a lot. We were unlucky to concede the first goal, the ball pass through six legs. We lacked quality, but I am happy with how we occupied the spaces,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“We need to change chapter now, a defeat is always disappointing, but we need to transform this disappointment into determination,” he added.

“Our future depends on the games against our direct rivals. We played a good match today. We’ll analyse all the situations, but we must be more clear-minded.”

Before the game, the club’s technical director Paolo Maldini had said the game he knew nothing about the Super League until Sunday.

“Nobody can doubt Paolo’s moral integrity. He has so many values, he said what he thought,” Pioli said.

Milan are one of the 12 clubs that announced the Super League on Sunday.

“It didn’t distract us. Nothing is distracting us. We are focused on our target. The remaining part of the season will be very difficult, but we need to remain focused and can’t get distracted from something we haven’t decided,” the coach insisted.

“We have no fear. It’s a privilege to have this pressure. We are fighting for a Champions League spot and we want to achieve it.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ismael Bennacer and Theo Hernandez missed the game with injuries.

“Ibra had a calf problem. I hope he can recover [for the next game], but I am not sure, and the same goes for the others. We hope we can recover as many players as possible.”
