Zlatan Ibrahimovic suggested Milan ‘are happy’ with head coach Stefano Pioli despite expectations he’ll be replaced in the summer.

The 58-year-old Italian coach initially won plaudits for transforming the Rossoneri following their difficulties of the previous decade, winning the Scudetto in the 2021-22 season and taking them back to the Champions League.

Over the last two years, Pioli has struggled to replicate his success in the Milan dugout and fans have started to grow increasingly tired with his tactical decisions. With the club not competing for any trophies this term, many now expect the coach to be replaced in the summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia at the Formula One qualifying session in Saudi Arabia, Ibrahimovic was first asked what Pioli needs to do to retain his role at Milan.

“He must continue as he is doing, he is doing a good job and we are happy with him.”

The former striker discussed his new role as an advisor to Rossoneri owners RedBird.

“I’m feeling good. I’m growing, I’m learning and working. One day at a time and I’m always making steps forward and it’s always improving. But good, I like it, I like this responsibility and I want to give as much as possible to Milan.”

Finally, Ibrahimovic discussed his brief F1 distraction and time in Saudi Arabia.

“It’s nice to be here, my first time in Saudi Arabia. I’m a big fan of F1 and Ferrari, it’s no secret. I want to enjoy this moment in Saudi Arabia and enjoy the F1. I hope Ferrari win. Then back to work with Milan.”
