Stefano Pioli does not want to risk any injuries in the early stages of this season and is planning to rotate the squad for the coming games against Hellas Verona and Cagliari.
The Rossoneri had looked strong in the early stages of this campaign but their 5-1 Derby della Madonnina loss to Inter threatens to cause a wobble. The team were toothless in their Champions League opener against Newcastle United, failing to break the deadlock in a 0-0 draw.
Milan sit three points behind Inter at the top of the table and cannot afford to drop momentum as the title race starts to take shape.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW, Pioli is concerned about the schedule and doesn’t want to overwork his squad, so will rotate players in Milan’s coming games against Verona and Cagliari.
Whilst Rafael Leao is expected to remain a regular feature, Olivier Giroud will likely be sent to the bench in favour of Noah Okafor.
Theo Hernandez could also be rested, with Alessandro Florenzi coming in his place, and Yunus Musah seems set to start in the midfield in place of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
