“It wasn’t bad luck, it’s our fault we didn’t win,” Pioli fumed in his post-match Press conference.

“We tried, but at the moment we don’t have the calmness to play better. We didn’t have the strength to close out a match that was in our hands.

“I know the potential of my players, but now we’re not doing what we can.”

With the Aquile failing register a domestic win since October 25, is Pioli fearing for his job?

“I can’t answer that question. I’m disappointed not to have won a game that we could and should have won.

“The team wasn’t able to put what they do during the week out there on the pitch. We need a different kind of performance to bring home results.

“I’m not demoralised, just disappointed. I don’t think there’s no chance of changing the course we’re on.

“The club has shown faith in me so far, and the team is behind me. Right now we’re not putting the work we do during the week onto the pitch.

“It was a crucial game, and we had to do more. We didn’t start badly, closing our opponents down in their half of the pitch. Then we got nervous.

“I understand your questions and concerns, because we’re here to talk about another negative result, but the team tried, we just couldn’t do what we wanted to.”
