Roma are up next in Serie A, with the Rome derby taking place on Sunday, but before then Pioli’s sided have Europa League commitments.
They face Norwegian side Rosenborg in Group G tomorrow evening at 20:05 UK time, knowing a win would put them within touching distance of the last 16.
English midfielder Morrison still hasn’t started a match since joining the capital club in the summer, but Pioli suggested his opportunity has finally arrived.
“These are a very important four days, tomorrow will play a great part in reaching the next round and we all know the importance of the derby,” he said in today’s Press conference.
“The team must think about giving their all tomorrow and every time they go out on the pitch, I don’t want to talk about a reaction.
“We must go back to being consistent, we have important qualities. Let’s put them out on the pitch.
“In the last match we didn’t give our best, but in Bergamo we were developing. We must prepare ourselves to give the best performance possible on the pitch.
“I know my players, they have a lot of quality and quality players must feel free to try a move.
“These things happen when there’s a lot of positivity. I’m talking about responsibility and our faults, we haven’t yet managed to find conviction and positivity. It would be a serious mistake to think that some of my players believe they’ve already reached their best.
“In a year and a half we have rarely drawn matches. First of all because we always try to win and this route has enabled us to win a lot of games.
“On Sunday we got stuck, the team’s performance had nothing to do with the previous ones. On Sunday the team knew what to do, had the desire but didn’t manage to. Now we must learn from our mistakes and show that we aren’t the team from last Sunday.
“We are seventh but six points from the top and the derby has become an important match. I continue to trust my team.
“We have to be able to withstand pressure and show that we are strong. I’m not here to talk about the match on Sunday but about Rosenborg.
“Tomorrow I want a determined team, then we’ll think about the derby. If we want to become a great team, we must show that we can withstand pressure.
“It could be Morrison’s night, he’s training with consistency and entering into the mechanisms of the team. This could be his chance."
