According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stefano Pioli was particularly upset with Milan stars after their 1-0 loss against Torino and the resulting elimination from Coppa Italia.

The defending Serie A champions were knocked out of the competition on Wednesday night and Pioli was so angry that he punished all his players after the game by not allowing them to return home, sleeping at Milanello, where they trained on Thursday morning.

He had taken similar action after a 3-0 loss against PSV at the end of December, cancelling a day off and forcing his players to train at Milanello on the last game of the year.

According to Gazzetta, Pioli was disappointed by most of his players, but more specifically by Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud.

They had all been introduced at the end of the second half with Milan one man up. It was still not enough to create trouble for Torino who eventually scored the winner through Michel Adopo in extra time.

Milan will fly to Brindisi today and meet Lecce at the Stadio Via Del Mare on Saturday. On Sunday, they will go straight to Riyad, where they will face Inter in the Supercoppa clash on January 18.

  1. He is the main problem, proposing a poor qality game, very repetitive, & full of flaws.
He is been supported by luck up until now, but the truth is that it was a mediocre coach when he took over the team, & still is.
    Never liked him.
