Pioli: ‘Decide at end of the season’

Stefano Pioli says he’ll “make assessments at the end of the season” amid rumours he’ll leave Lazio.

It was reported yesterday that the Coach is considering quitting the Biancocelesti early, and he was asked if he still believes in the Aquile project in his pre-Verona Press conference.

“I was surprised to read these things in recent days,” Pioli admitted.

“I understand that your job is not easy, you have to be creative. I said we’ll see where we are at the end of the season, that’s the right thing, there’s no need to make evaluations while the season is ongoing.

“In football things can change quickly. Then you make assessments at the end of the season. We’re behind in terms of our plan and my expectations.

“We’re not succeeding, I can say that objectively, but all we were missing against Genoa was a goal. The results determine everything, but I really believe in my team.

“Until the maths forces us to reevaluate, we want to qualify for Europe. Then at the end of the season we’ll understand what we’ve done well and what we weren’t able to do.”
