According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan coach Stefano Pioli has personally called France striker Marcus Thuram and is rivalling José Mourinho’s Roma in the race for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.

Both players are available on a free transfer this summer and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Pioli is taking the matter into his own hands by calling some of the Rossoneri summer targets.

Among the pink paper, Pioli personally called Thuram, son of Serie A legend Lilian, hoping to persuade him to move to the Stadio Meazza.

Thuram had previously been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona, but Gazzetta claims PSG are leading the race to secure his signature.

The France international is expected to make a decision on his next club on Monday.

Tielemans is another target for the Rossoneri, according to the report.

The Belgium international’s contract with Leicester City runs out in the summer. Mourinho’s Roma are also interested in the Belgian midfielder and it is believed that the Special One has already spoken to the 26-year-old.

Both sides are also interested in Gianluca Scamacca and Evan N’Dicka but the defender seems close to moving the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer, completing his medical next week.

  1. Whilst adding depth, none of these are an upgrade on what we had. That was the problem with last summer’s transfer campaign.
