“These are the difficult games, against an opponent that has a lot of quality and isn’t accustomed to being in the bottom three,” the Coach said in his Press conference.

“They couldn’t be more motivated, because they are fighting for their Serie A safety. I’ve always said we have to evaluate seasons at the end, so we have to remember the most important game is tomorrow and only after that will we think about Milan.

“We’ll have to play with the best technique and that means no misplaced passes. When the motivation is at a similar level, the side with the most quality usually wins.”

The race for sixth and seventh is still wide open, as Milan are on 60 points, Atalanta 59 and Fiorentina 57.

However, the fixture list has Atalanta-Milan tomorrow and Milan-Fiorentina in the final round.

“We have the opportunity to keep believing in Europe, but it’s against Cagliari we can make the difference, not necessarily with Milan.

“Everyone is available except for Simone Lo Faso, but he’ll be in the stands with a flag in one hand and a trumpet in the other. Vitor Hugo needs a fitness test tomorrow morning.”

Today there was a very special visit to the Fiorentina training ground from Francesca, the girlfriend of deceased captain Davide Astori.

The club also announced it had created a trust fund for their two-year-old daughter Vittoria to ensure her financial stability.

“It was a noble and wonderful gesture from the club owners. Francesca made a surprise visit and we were very pleased to see her. Many of us hadn’t seen her since the tragedy and it was good to see how she was getting on.”
