Stefano Pioli seemingly taunted Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri after Milan‘s win over Frosinone by saying ‘those who say they do not aim for the top is because they haven’t been there for years.’

Milan secured a 3-1 victory over Frosinone on Saturday, cementing their third place in the Serie A table and moving three points below city rivals Inter who meet Napoli at the Stadio Maradona tonight.

Juventus are the current table leaders with 33 points in 14 matches, but both Massimiliano Allegri and Cristiano Giuntoli have insisted that the Bianconeri’s main target this season is to earn a top-four finish and qualify for the 2024-25 Champions League.

Pioli didn’t mention Juventus or Allegri during a post-match interview with DAZN on Saturday, but, as reported by Tuttosport, he did send a message to the Bianconeri boss following Milan’s victory at San Siro.

“This victory is what we wanted. We hadn’t won two consecutive [Serie A] games for two months,” he said.

“We must aim for the top and we need consistency to do so. Those who say they do not aim for the top [of the table] is because they haven’t been there for years.”

Juventus ended the last two seasons empty-handed with Allegri in charge. Andrea Pirlo was the last to win a Turin trophy, lifting a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa in 2020-21. However, the former midfielder failed to retain the Serie A title and win a tenth consecutive Scudetto for the Old Lady.

  1. I know we live rent-free in inter’s heads, but didn’t know we did so in Milan‘s as well :/
Always respected Milan and Milanese fans, but wow.
