Giampiero Pinzi concedes the draw was “the right result” and a positive start in Udinese’s Champions League play-off with Braga.

Dusan Basta had given the visitors the lead, but a blockbuster from Ismaily allowed Sporting Braga a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

“There are some regrets, as the ball really didn’t want to go in when we had that great chance to make it 2-0,” said Pinzi.

“Looking at the game overall, Braga are a good side, kept possession well and made us work hard, so it is the right result for both teams.

“We knew they were good at possession on home turf, but they found an extraordinary goal with Ismaily, otherwise the game would’ve been ours.

“A draw while scoring away from home is a good result, so we are confident about the second leg, even if we know Braga are an excellent side and so it will be as tough as it was tonight.”

The decider is at the Stadio Friuli on August 28.
