New Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti says he will forever be grateful to Inter, although the Nerazzurri never gave him a chance.

The ex-Empoli loanee has joined Sassuolo on a permanent deal from Inter and Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that the Nerazzurri don’t have a buy-back clause for the 23-year-old.

“I am happy to be here, Sassuolo have chased me for a long time and I am proud of it. They gamble on young players and I think this spell can give me a lot,” the striker said at his unveiling press conference.

“My target is to equal what I did last season and try to do even more.”

Pinamonti scored 13 goals in 37 appearances while on loan at Empoli last season.

“I will forever thank Inter because it’s the club that welcomed me when I was 14,” the striker continued.

“I have no regrets, it’s a fact that I didn’t have a chance there, but I have no hard feelings. Being here can be a step toward a top team, but I don’t think about it, we’ll see in the future.

“Targeting the national team is crucial for a player aiming to the top. It’s an important target and I want to continue what I did last season to have a chance to get to the national team,” Pinamonti concluded.

  1. Yep, that’s Inter for you!

Wait, Italian clubs overall is generally guilty of this as well. Very little Italians getting game time.

    Very sad indeed!
