Andrea Pinamonti reacted to his unexpected debut with the Italian national team and his tribute to his former agent Mino Raiola.

The 23-year-old Italian forward, who completed a €20m move from Inter to Sassuolo in the summer, was a late addition by Roberto Mancini for Italy’s two friendlies against Albania and Austria. It was Pinamonti’s first call up to the Azzurri squad and he made a cameo appearance in the win over Albania, finally making his first appearance for the senior national team.

Speaking to the Azzurri media department, Pinamonti suggested that his Italy debut was a dream come true.

“It’s a goal that all people who start playing dream about. Getting there now means so much to me, it’s a source of pride and satisfaction.

“It was an unexpected debut. I knew I was starting behind in the hierarchy and for that I have to thank the coach who allowed me to make my debut.”

He then revealed who he dedicated his Italy debut too, both his family and his former agent.

“It would be obvious to say my family, who always support me. Another special dedication is for Mino Raiola, who has always believed in me and knew I would reach this goal.”

The 23-year-old Pinamonti was represented by Raiola before the super agent’s unexpected death earlier this year. His agency One was taken over by Brazilian lawyer Rafaela Pimenta, who has inherited his clients and is now representing their interests.
