Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister sent an Instagram message to his compatriots, including Lautaro Martinez and Leo Messi, after the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday.
Messi won the Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in his career while Lautaro was ranked 20th, above his Inter teammate Nicolò Barella and below Napoli stars Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (17th) and Victor Osimhen (8th).
Mac Allister, who won the World Cup with Messi and Lautaro last year, congratulated his compatriots after the Ballon d’Or Ceremony on Monday, including Julian Alvarez and Dibu Martinez.
Alvarez was ranked 7th, Martinez 15th, but also received The Yashin Trophy for the best-performing goalkeeper in 2023.
“Congratulations on your deserved achievement,” Mac Allister wrote in an Instagram story, posting pictures with his teammates from the 2022 World Cup.
