Daniele De Rossi jokes about Leandro Paredes’ shirt number at Roma: ‘It’s made for you.’

Paredes has returned to the capital, completing a permanent €2.5m transfer from PSG and signing a two-year contract with José Mourinho’s side.

The Argentinean midfielder has picked the shirt number 16, which previously belonged to club legend Daniele De Rossi.

Paredes revealed in his first interview with the club that he had asked for De Rossi’s permission before picking his squad number for 2023-24.

The Azzurri legend reacted with an Instagram story and a message for his ex-teammate.

“Welcome back home my friend,” wrote De Rossi, sharing a picture with Paredes posing with the No.16.

He added: “Questo numero ‘te queda pintado’,” an Argentinean expression to say ‘this is made for you.’.

De Rossi and Paredes spent two seasons together at the Stadio Olimpico, in 2014-15 and 2016-17.
