Antonio Conte and Tottenham players planted an Italian Evergreen Oak tree at their training ground yesterday in memory of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone.

The 62-year-old passed away on Thursday last week due to fulminant leukaemia. Ventrone was one of Conte’s closest friends and one of the country’s most prominent fitness coaches, having worked with some of the best coaches in Italy, including Champions League and World Cup winner Marcello Lippi.

As announced by Tottenham, Conte and his players held a ceremony at the club’s training ground on Monday when they planted an Italian Evergreen Oak tree in memory of Ventrone.

Conte, his staff members and Fabio Paratici had attended his funeral in Naples on Sunday, along with many former Italy and Juventus stars.
