A picture of Francesco Acerbi showing the middle finger to Roma fans after Inter‘s opener at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday has emerged on social media after the game.
Fans and pundits only spotted Acerbi’s rude gesture on Sunday morning, the day after Inter’s 4-2 victory over Roma in the capital.
The Italian defender had given Inter the lead in the first half, and after celebrating his goal, he made a gesture that needed no translation, aimed at Roma supporters.
The picture has quickly gone viral on X, formerly Twitter, in Italy.
Acerbi is a former Lazio defender who played 173 games with Roma’s city rivals before joining Inter in 2022.
