Piccoli: ‘Vieri and Ibra my role models’

Spezia striker Roberto Piccoli scored his first Serie A goal against Inter today: ‘Vieri and Ibra are my role models,’ he said after the game.

The 19-year-old joined the newly-promoted Serie A side on loan from Atalanta last summer.

“I want to thank the team and the coach. It’s a dream to score a goal in this stadium,” the Italian striker told Sky Sport.

“We are sorry for the defeat, but we need to work hard and look ahead.”

“When I was at Atalanta [Duvan] Zapata was my master. I like strikers who work for the team and are ruthless in front of the goal.

“I’ve always liked also [Christian] Vieri and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.

“Atalanta’s youth sector is one of the best in Europe,” he added.

“They teach you how to play football, I was lucky to have been coached by ex-players like [Marco] Zanchi and [Stefano] Lorenzi, Atalanta have a youth sector that helps youto grow as a man and as a footballer.”
