Referee Marco Piccini and fourth official Marco Serra are set to miss out on officiating in any of the next round of Serie A fixtures following controversy in Cremonese’s 2-1 victory over Roma on Tuesday.

Serra in particular has made headlines for his alleged comments directed towards Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.

Enraged by the heated exchange that took place in Lombardy on Tuesday, Mourinho claimed he “could take legal action” against the fourth official.

Mourinho believes his side were unfairly treated, possibly due to the fact that Serra was born in Turin and that Roma’s following game is against Juventus.

Now that the list of match officials for the next weekend of action has been released by Serie A, it’s been confirmed that Serra, as well as Piccini, will not be involved in any of the 25th-round fixtures.

Roma’s game against Juve at the Stadio Olimpico will be officiated by Fabio Maresca, whilst Giovanni Ayroldi will be the game’s fourth official.
