Baseball legend Mike Piazza could be investing in Serie A side Palermo, having previously tried to buy Parma.

The report emerged via Tuttomercatoweb, claiming the American star of Italian origin was ready to renew his interest in Serie A.

Piazza had attempted to buy Parma when the club was on the verge of bankruptcy, but pulled out when seeing quite how bad the situation was with a very limited time to balance the books.

He has always confessed to being a Palermo supporter, as that is where his family comes from originally.

This makes the Rosanero his perfect place to invest, especially as President Maurizio Zamparini has repeatedly stated he wants to sell and is looking for overseas partners.

TMW claim the deal could be brokered by Joe Tacopina, former President of Bologna and now patron of Venezia – one of Zamparini’s former clubs.
