Piacenza have announced that they’ve suspended training in their youth academy as a precaution from the Coronavirus.

The disease, which at this stage has affected more than 30 countries around the world, has reportedly spread to Piacenza, located in the region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy.

SportPiacenza.it states that the club, which plays in Serie C, have taken measures as a precaution against the virus.

The report states that many of the players from the club’s youth academy come from the towns of Codogno and Castiglione D’Adda, where the virus has reached.

The club has decided to stop training sessions and postpone primavera matches as a result.

“We don’t want to create any alarms,” said Piacenza’s general manager Marco Sciano.

“Because there is no need, however we have many young players from that area and also staff.

“So we have accepted the invitation from the authorities and have chosen to suspend youth training.”
