Petrachi hits out at Torino

Gianluca Petrachi has hit out at Torino for ‘questioning my loyalty’ after President Urbano Cairo warned him not to hold talks with Roma.

Gianluca Petrachi has hit out at Torino for ‘questioning my loyalty’ after President Urbano Cairo warned him not to hold talks with Roma.

Petrachi [pictured, middle] is considered Roma’s first choice to become their sporting director this summer, but Cairo made it clear on Tuesday that any contact between the two parties would be a ‘conflict of interest’.

“After 10 years of professional relationship with Torino, I don’t think it’s fair to question my loyalty and my professionalism,” responded the 50-year-old via ANSA.

“I therefore find the statements of President Cairo unjust, and I would have preferred clarification in person.

“The relationship between the President and his director must be based on mutual trust and respect for their roles.

“I don’t understand how this conflict of interest could materialise. A possible approach from another club is simply proof that the work done was first-rate and ‘my’ President should just be proud of it.

“I regret to say that perhaps it’s the President Cairo who no longer trusts me.”
