Vladimir Petkovic insists he is focused on Lazio’s game with Apollon Limassol, accusing the media of “creating stories to sell papers.”

The Coach spoke at a Press conference in Cyprus ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match, which kicks off at 18.00 UK time (17.00 GMT).

“I feel good, I know what I am giving and how we are working,” said Petkovic after reports he had tried to resign on Sunday.

“You all created this chaos, because you like creating stories to sell papers. However, I am relaxed and I’m proving that in front of the squad too.

“Tomorrow we will field the best team that we have. We want to win against a side that is not small, as they eliminated Nice. We are here to prove our strength and overcome difficulties with results.

“The team is playing pretty well, but bad luck was the only reason we lost against Atalanta on Sunday. Tomorrow night we will prove ourselves.

“At the moment we are paying for every individual error. We need to be more determined and gritty, more concentrated at every moment, both at home and away. We respect Apollon, but are not afraid.

“We’ve been saying for a year and a half that we want to stay competitive in all the tournaments.”
