Vladimir Petkovic remains “optimistic” after Lazio’s disappointing 0-0 Europa League draw with Apollon.
The Biancocelesti dominated and had 27 opportunities to score, seven of them on target, but could not find the net in Cyprus.
“We lacked that little bit of luck, even in certain ricochets,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We need to believe more, be calm and continue working. We believe in qualification, because we have earned two away draws and a home victory.
“A win over Apollon would’ve basically closed the group, but we didn’t manage it.”
Trabzonspor are top of Europa League Group J on seven points, followed by Lazio with five, Apollon four and Legia Warsaw on zero.
This result comes just days after reports Petkovic was going to be fired or had even offered his resignation.
“Am I optimistic about my situation? Certainly. The team is playing well and with a goal everything will suddenly become easier.”
