‘Petagna seems like he wants to stay’

President Walter Mattioli has insisted that Andrea Petagna “seems like he wants to stay” at SPAL, despite his admission that joining Roma would be a “dream”.

Inter, as well as Roma, have been mentioned as possible suitors for Petagna next month, but Mattioli assured his No 9 was “at ease” with his current situation.

“My intention is to keep the ones who want to stay, and he seems like he wants to stay,” the patron told Sky Sport Italia.

“If there are any clubs who are trying to contact him, he will tell me.

“In this case, there are other contractual technicalities that will kick in, but I find the boy at ease.”

The Biancazzurri are bottom of Serie A and Mattioli recognises that he needs players who are willing to “fight” for their cause.

“I want the team to remain compact and I don’t want anyone to stay here unwillingly.

“Those who don’t want to fight, raise your hand and leave.”
