Andrea Petagna “can’t wait” to play for Napoli, even if he did ask to postpone his transfer until the summer so he could help SPAL survive in Serie A.
The centre-forward has already completed his transfer to Napoli for €17m, but was allowed to remain at SPAL on loan for the rest of the season.
“I can’t wait. They believed in me straight away and wanted me to move in January. I think I’m ready,” the 24-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“SPAL did well in the last few games before the lockdown and we believe in our chances. I can only thank the club for backing me all the way and I repaid their faith with many goals. Now we’ve got to secure safety.
“Napoli is the most important step of my career and I arrive with almost 30 goals over two years at SPAL. I’ve grown and I feel that I’m ready for this next stage.”
Petagna was asked about the strongest defenders he has faced during his career so far.
“Giorgio Chiellini and Kalidou Koulibaly are the best in Serie A, as they are both physically strong and quick. They are really tough to face.”
