The newspaper claims Napoli are stepping up their interest in Belotti, who attracted a lot of attention when he scored 26 goals in Serie A 2016-17, and suggested that the Partenopei will not have room for both him and Petagna in their squad.

Belotti has earned a regular place in the Italy squad, scoring nine times in 27 appearances since his debut on September 1, 2016.

In January, Napoli signed Petagna from SPAL, but the former Atalanta forward remained on loan in Ferrara until June and the report claims that he could be used as makeweight to bring Belotti to the San Paolo this summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport previously reported that Petagna, who had also been heavily linked with Roma during the winter, may never get the chance to play for the southern side.

Napoli signed Petagna for €18m plus bonuses in January, but the 24-year-old remained at SPAL to try and save the struggling outfit from relegation, now he could be implemented into a potential deal for Andrea Belotti.
