Atalanta injuries could remove two players from Italy’s Nations League squad, as Rafael Toloi is hurt and Matteo Pessina was stretchered off against Milan.

They were both part of the UEFA EURO 2020 triumph over the summer and had also been included in Roberto Mancini’s 23-man side for the Nations League.

The semi-final is against Spain on October 6, then either the Final or battle for third place on October 10, against France or Belgium.

However, Ciro Immobile of Lazio already pulled out due to injury, replaced by Juventus striker Moise Kean.

Now two Atalanta players are expected to miss the tournament too.

Defender Toloi picked up an injury before kick-off against Milan this evening and should make way for Rossoneri full-back Davide Calabria.

Pessina was stretchered off during the match, clutching the back of his thigh and in evident pain after he was cleanly tackled by Fikayo Tomori.

It seems unlikely from that image that Pessina will be available for Italy, so he could well be replaced by another Milan player, Sandro Tonali.

There are other alternatives, such as Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo.
