Despite beginning to feel the physical strain, Siena defender Emanuele Pesoli is continuing with his hunger strike.
The defender was convicted in the recent match-fixing trials and handed a three-year ban from the sport. However, he is insistent that he rejected the proposed fix from Carlo Gervasoni and Filippo Carobbio for Siena-Varese on May 11, 2011 that he is said to have assisted in.

Chained to the gate outside the Italian Football Federation’s headquarters, Pesoli is demanding a chance to defend himself in court.
Having passed 54 hours of his strike, Pesoli has been visited by a doctor, as he begins to feel the effects of going without food. The 31-year-old is complaining of dizziness and fatigue, whilst his blood pressure has also dropped. However, he remains resolute in continuing his position.
“I will stay here, I am waiting to talk to someone from the federal prosecutors,” he told reporters today.
“I carry on my strike – I want a meeting in court with my accusers.”
