The Serie B side’s Twitter account received a message from a supporter complaining that their anti-racism stance was “Communist” and “boring. You’re about to lose a fan.”
They responded with a tweet sparking a party to celebrate no longer having the user as one of their supporters, prompting a swell of positive feedback from other clubs, players and the FIGC.

“The saddest thing is that we are almost in 2020 and still talking about racism, it’s absurd,” Pescara President Sebastiani told Tele Radio Stereo.
“Our press officer replied in under 30 seconds, although he did it in a jokey manner. I would perhaps have been harder, because this sort of thing cannot simply be allowed to pass unchallenged.
“The clubs must do something to combat racism, but the institutions need to act too. (FIGC President Gabriele) Gravina is watching and we must all try to send a strong signal.
“The colour of a person’s skin must not be a discriminating factor in any walk of life, but the institutions have the duty to take action, even if it means stopping games.
“We all need to do our part and this problem has to be stopped. I know there is a lot of politics involved and people don’t want to become unpopular. I am President of Pescara, so I don’t really care and we take this attitude because we cannot be conditioned by anyone.
“Trust me when I say that I know Gravina and he is really working hard on this situation.”
