Romano Perticone hits back at José Mourinho on social media after the Roma coach allegedly told his players to go to Serie C, where they’d feel no pressure.

Il Corriere dello Sport reported part of Mourinho’s dressing room speech after Roma’s 2-0 loss against Inter on Tuesday.

“The worse shortcoming for a man is lack of balls and personality,” Mourinho allegedly told his players, among other things.

“Are you scared about big games? Then go to play in Serie C, without pressure, without champions, and big stadiums. You are without balls and that’s the worse thing for a man.”

Cittadella captain Perticone, 35, hit back at the Portuguese coach through his official Twitter account, suggesting that the Special One should not underestimate Serie C, Italy’s third division.

“In C, they spat in my face, put their fingers in my eyes, threatened me in the tunnel. In serie A, it never. When it comes to Serie C, it is better to talk about technical values, which are indisputably different,” the veteran defender wrote.

Perticone has played in every professional league in Italy, collecting over 300 appearances in Serie B, more than 50 appearances in Serie C and 27 in Serie A. Perticone made his Serie A debut with Milan in May 2005 against Palermo under Carlo Ancelotti. It was his only game played in a Rossoneri shirt.
