“I came to Genoa so I could take flight again,” he told Spanish paper Marca.

“I never doubted my talents, and I knew that the injuries would pass in due time. I'm enjoying the moment.

“I came here so I could start on the preparatory training for the season from the first day. I needed to train harder to see how my body was going to take certain levels of pain.

“I adapted well to the new language and the new championship. I feel comfortable, and I'm confident because I picked up the kind of football rhythm that I needed to show that I wasn't over as a player.

“As for Sevilla, I must thank the club for how they behaved with me and for their availability. Now I'm in a new place. I needed to change so I could start from scratch.”

Finally, the winger touched upon a personal dream of his own.

“I wish to return to the national team. I train and I play with that opportunity in mind. For any Argentinean player, that is the summit.

“From where I stand it's not an easy task, but I won't be short of drive.”
