Diego Perotti admits the 1-0 first leg result “won’t make a huge difference” against KAA Gent, but it does allow Roma to end their month-long winless streak.
An early strike from Carles Perez proved enough, but the Europa League Round of 32 remains wide open going into the second leg in Belgium.
“It was important to win and shake off this negative period where we struggled to get a victory,” Perotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“The 1-0 result won’t make a huge difference, it’ll still be decided in the second leg, but the win is nonetheless important for us.
“We scored the goal early with a well-worked move, but then were unable to finalise some of our other opportunities and were unlucky in a few instances.
“If I could explain what has been behind our recent form, I’d have told the coach and tried to change things. We should’ve done more, we suffered together as a team today, but the only thing we can do is work hard.”
