Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin says he’s ready to return, just three months after a cruciate ligament injury.

The Italian international ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in April, a devastating injury which saw him miss out on Euro 2016.

A knee injury of that kind would ordinarily keep a player out for at least six months, but the ‘keeper says he’s ready to return in less than half that time.

“After exactly two months and 23 days of work, sweat, suffering and hope of coming back stronger than before… I can announce my complete recovery from injury!” Perin announced on his Instagram profile.

“I want to thank the phenomenal Professor [Pier Paolo] Mariani once again, as well as all his wonderful team.

“Not to mention the physical therapists and athletic coaches who, along with me, did their best to reach this unexpected result. Thank you for your great competence and professionalism.”
