Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin underwent shoulder surgery today and will be out for around four months.

The shot-stopper has been struggling with a recurring problem in his right shoulder for much of the campaign.

It is hoped this operation will resolve it once and for all, allowing him to spend most of the recovery time during the summer months.

According to news agency ANSA, the surgery was performed by Professor Alex Castagna at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
