Mattia Perin’s agent has revealed his delight at the Genoa man being called up for the Italy squad.

The young goalkeeper was named by Cesare Prandelli in the squad for the friendly against Spain on Wednesday.

And the 21-year-old’s representative has insisted that his fist senior call is reward for hard work.

“Mattia has put in a lot of effort and is doing well,” Matteo Roggi told Calcio News.

“Getting a call for the national team is a huge source of pride and a prize for all the efforts he’s made so far.

“Italy have a real depth of talent in goal, so there’s plenty of options to replace Buffon when he finally retires.

“Mattia is a great talent and a great professional. Hopefully this is the first call-up of many.”
