‘Perhaps there was a penalty’ Morata has regrets about Champions League Final against Barcelona

Alvaro Morata insists that he is happy at Juventus and regrets the 2015 Champions League Final against Barcelona: ‘Perhaps there was a penalty for us…’

The Spaniard is on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid and the Old Lady won’t make his move permanent for €35m at the end of the season.

However, the Serie A giants are willing to keep hold of the Spain international if the Colchoneros lower their demands. Juventus have already paid €20m for the striker’s two-year loan at the Allianz Stadium.

“Everyone plays for his future at Juventus, in games and during training sessions,” Morata told DAZN.

“There is a long queue to come here and it’s normal to be judged in every game. I am giving my all to win for my teammates and the fans.

“I am happy to be here. My sons ask me to sing the club’s anthem every morning, I am happy, but I’d be happier with a trophy.”

The Spaniard met his former teammate Carlos Tevez two weeks ago, when the ex-Argentinean striker arrived in Turin for Juventus vs. Inter. They spent a season together at Juventus, winning the double (Serie A and Coppa Italia) and losing the Champions League Final against Barcelona in 2015.

“In a way, he [Tevez] made me become a footballer,” said Morata. “I was only 21, and I didn’t have much experience. He has become one of the best players ever; Tevez had incredible quality. There aren’t many players like him in history. He would win games single-handedly.

“We spoke about football, family, everything…He knows that I’ll be forever grateful to him. There is a small regret. Perhaps there was a penalty for us in the [Champions League] Final against Barcelona, but that’s how life is.”

The Bianconeri had just equalised through Morata in the second half of the Final in Berlin in 2015 when Dani Alves appeared to foul Paul Pogba inside the Catalans’ box.
