Bruno Peres admits Roma “didn’t expect Liverpool to start so strong, but we are ready for another miracle” in the Champions League.
They lost the semi-final 5-2 at Anfield, but had been 5-0 down at one stage before late away goals from Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti.
“We were really upset over what happened. We didn’t expect Liverpool to start so strong and we were surprised, but now we know how they run and their attitude,” Peres told Sky Sport Italia.

Eusebio Di Francesco was criticised for his three-man defence, leaving acres of space for the Liverpool front trio to run into.
“I think he was criticised because we lost, as we beat Barcelona with the same system and were considered perfect them. All it takes is a defeat for everyone to pile in. Nothing changes for me, the team is ready for whatever system the Coach wants to use.
“If we didn’t believe in the possibility of a comeback, we wouldn’t even be training… We did it with Barcelona, we know that we are strong and must be humble.”
Before Wednesday’s showdown, Roma host Chievo in another must-win Serie A encounter to stay in third place.
“The games against the so-called smaller sides are actually more difficult to prepare, above all in terms of mentality and concentration, as we know these sides come here to scrape a point.
“We must be intelligent and stay focused. If we win all our Serie A games to the end, then Inter and Lazio can’t catch us.”
