Gian Piero Gasperini’s men exited the Champions League with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday and Percassi thanked Sassuolo, Inter and Milan for having hosted their incredible European run, culminating in a quarter-final of the Champions League this season.

“There are several things to do,” Percassi told the club’s official website. “There are construction sites open and others to be opened.

“There are plans for improvements for the stadium and for Zingonia. We are doing everything possible and will probably succeed.

“We are working for the next Champions League to be played in Bergamo. The city deserves it, our fans deserve it.

“We have wandered over the years, thanks to great availability of Sassuolo, Inter and Milan, who we really thank.

“Now, we want to play a European competition at home. On September 7 and 8, there will be an inspection by UEFA to check the state of the work. We are confident this can happen.”
