Atalanta President Antonio Percassi revealed Gian Piero Gasperini’s future in Bergamo was never in doubt. “I was bluffing!”

The Nerazzurri will be playing in Europe’s top competition for the very first time in their history, but there were doubts cast whether their tactician would be leading the side, as he was linked with Roma, Milan and Juventus.

“I was bluffing when I said I didn’t know what Gasperini’s future would be. Of course, we had already found an agreement, we talked about what we will aim to do, but I can’t tell what our objectives will be yet,” said Percassi at an event in Bergamo.

“While I was watching the Champions League Final last night, I thought just what an incredible achievement it was for a provincial side like us to be able to compete in this competition, it’s a dream come true.”

La Dea are being linked with bids for SPAL pair Manuel Lazzari and Andrea Petagna, although it’d be a return for the centre-forward.

“We are working on building a competitive team for next season. We are looking at a lot of different players, there are many irons in the fire.”
