Pellegrino lands ahead of Milan medical

Defender Marco Pellegrino has landed on Italian soil and is ready for his Milan medical tomorrow, so he can complete the transfer from Platense.

The centre-back arrived at Linate Airport in Milan late this evening, having made the journey from Buenos Aires with a lay-off in Paris.

He will undergo his tests tomorrow morning, as the two clubs agreed a deal worth circa €3m plus €2m bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

The 21-year-old becomes the ninth new signing of the summer for Stefano Pioli’s side.

His new coach and teammates are currently in action at the Stadio Dall’Ara for their opening Serie A game of the season against Bologna.

Turning 21 last month, Pellegrino has citizenship of both Argentina and Italy due to his heritage, so could be called up for international duty by new Azzurri boss Luciano Spalletti in future.

He is a product of the Platense youth academy and until the age of 14 seemed set for a career as a professional tennis player.
