Mateo Pellegrino proved that he is an interesting striker with his performance in Parma’s 2-2 draw with Milan in Serie A on Saturday evening, but he has a long way to go before a big move away from the Tardini Stadium materialises.

Pellegrino impressive, but Milan interest is not concrete … yet

Pellegrino is young, but not too young having turned 24 a few weeks ago. He’s a striker who can lead the line on his own, but is also capable of linking up with a strike partner, like he often does with Patrick Cutrone.

He can create chances from nothing: His header that hit the post against Milan being the most recent example. Aerial ability is one of his strengths, but he’s also very decent with his feet, too.

His weakness is his numbers in front of goal. He needs to score more, only then will he attract the attention of Serie A’s biggest clubs. He has just two goals in the league so far this campaign.

Milan have been rumoured to be interested in Pellegrino, and Allegri has previously expressed his appreciation of the Argentine, but as things stand, there is still a long way to go before a big move away from Parma materialises.

Not least because Parma have no intention of letting Pellegrino go in January, but also because Milan’s interest is not yet completely concrete. But, there is still plenty of time.
