According to multiple reports in Italy, Lorenzo Pellegrini has signed a contract extension with Roma and will become the Giallorossi’ highest earner after Tammy Abraham.

Pellegrini’s contract was due to expire in June 2022, but according to Il Messaggero newspaper, the Italian midfielder has reached an agreement to extend his stay at the club.

According to the report, Pellegrini has already signed a contract extension until 2026.

He will earn €4m-a-year, becoming the club’s highest earner after former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

Roma have also cancelled Pellegrini’s €30m release clause and there won’t be any minimum transfer fee included in his new deal.

Calciomercato.com also reports Pellegrini has signed a contract extension with Roma and that the club’s announcement is imminent.

Tottenham were in talks with Pellegrini’s entourage over the summer, but Spurs refused to pay his release clause.

The 25-year-old had been included in Italy’s UEFA Euro 2020 squad, but was eventually replaced by Gaetano Castrovilli after sustaining an injury just two days before the beginning of the competition.

Pellegrini had a brilliant start to the season with six goals and two assists in nine games across all competitions.
