Lorenzo Pellegrini feels something ‘different’ at Roma under Jose Mourinho and saw that change of mentality against Salernitana.

The captain found the net twice with two sensational finishes in a 4-0 victory at the Stadio Arechi.

“It was not an easy game, in my view, because it was tough finding that first goal. We managed to break the deadlock at the start of the second half and it was all much easier from there,” Pellegrini told DAZN.

“It was a great team performance, my teammates allow me to be in all these different positions.”

Serie A Salernitana 0-4 Roma: Abraham and Pellegrini inspire

Salernitana parked the bus from the start, the kind of situation that Roma tended to struggle with in the past. How did Jose Mourinho fire them up at half-time?

“He told us to continue with this intensity, because it was important to move the ball quickly and find the right spaces, which is what happened.”

Roma have a 100 per cent record under Mourinho between Serie A and the Europa Conference League, so the fans this evening were singing about the Scudetto.

“We hope one day to make that dream come true. It does feel different this year, we are told to take it one game at a time, and this time it really is the approach we take. We will never speak about the next match, no matter how important it is, until this one has been played.”
