“We evaluated everything and have some important players missing, so we decided that my muscular problem wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t play,” Pellegrini told Sky Sport Italia.
“I put myself at the disposal of the team, as all my teammates would do.”
The midfielder was asked outright if he thinks the split between Dzeko and coach Fonseca can be resolved.
His reply was impressively diplomatic.
“I don’t think this is the moment to be talking about this. We are very united within the group, as the coach said yesterday.
“It’s important for us to win today, because a victory can help to resolve all the problems, assuming of course that there are any.”
